Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury has been the U.S. Representative for New Mexico’s 1st congressional district since 2021. Previously, Rep. Stansbury served in the New Mexico House of Representatives and worked at the White House Office of Management and Budget. Throughout her career, she has focused on legislative solutions to address hunger, food and water insecurity, conservation and climate change, and economic development and recovery.

Rep. Stansbury holds a PhD from Cornell University and has an extensive STEM background as a former educator and scientist. In 2018, she became the first woman and Democrat to represent District 28 in the New Mexico State House. In Congress, Rep. Stansbury serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources and the Oversight and Accountability Committee.
